Description:

Jim Hart,
a cast bronze model pole, #6/8, signed and dated 1984 height: 50 in. (127 cm)

Other Notes: This sculpture is based off a totem pole that was originally located in the village of Masset. In the early 1900's it was taken down and moved to Beacon Hill Park in Victoria, BC. During a storm in 1948 the pole was damaged and the remnants were placed into storage. Many years later the MOA commissioned Jim Hart to do a reconstruction of the pole. Using photos and a clay model the full size pole was completed in 1982. This bronze pole was made from a mould of the clay model. An example of this bronze sculpture is featured in the collection of the MOA.
