The Bond Bureau!

If James Bond were alive in the late 18th century I have no doubt that Q would have introduced him to the delightful George III oak fall front bureau sitting innocently on our auction floor.

Undoubtedly a good looking and practical desk for a man of substance, but underneath an innocent fall front is a secret. In fact not one secret but nine! Like many bureaux of this period secret drawers and hidden compartments are the norm, and occasionally secret stashes of gold coins, jewellery and lost documents are revealed.

Sadly it seems our 18th century Bond made off with the goodies leaving us to sell a very nice piece of 18th century furniture. Now is a great time to be purchasing 18th century furniture with prices just starting to recover from a slump in interest caused by a bad case of “The kids don’t want it”.
